About Sleepaway Camp
Camps for Kids has partnered with Teen Round-Up to provide this life-changing experience for children 7 to 17. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and enjoy this experience with their child!
Teen Round-Up was founded in 1965 by the late Bud Kerley and his wife Joy. Their mission was to support families in need and give their kids a mountain retreat experience. Now Mike and Roxanne Strait (formerly Kerley) and their son, Calvin operate Camp Wamatochick and host hundreds of campers each year.
Questions and Information:
What is a day like at Prescott Sleepaway Camp?
We begin every morning with a fresh hot breakfast before starting out on many adventures. Most cabins house 6 to 8 campers plus their counselors. Each cabin is age and gender specific, and you will travel through the days’ activities with your cabin mates and join up with other cabins as well. Our Chef will also create amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinners!
This is an active camp. We move from one exciting adventure to another. We often have one to two major activities in the morning before lunch, and then we are off to more adventures before dinner. After dinner, we do campfires, hayrides, outdoor movies, and campfire bingo with prizes.
Reception is poor except for a few places, so you will miss using your phone, but every once in a while, it’s important to unplug from technology and find that inner leadership, confidence, and adventure inside of all of us! There are so many adventures ahead of you and you will achieve a new independence and confidence from being here!
