Video Games are a part of our young culture. As parents we are always struggling with that line of “how much is too much” and what my child should be exposed to. At America’s Best Camps we are parents just like you so every activity at our camp whether it’s video gaming, movies, etc has age appropriate options. In your enrollment form you can specify how much time you want your child to participate in gaming or choose not to participate at all. Maybe you would like them to work on homework pages with our tutor or read one of the many books we have available. You can select the appropriate rating of movie for your child and choose the movie that you feel is best among the choices on Movie Day.
Playlive Nation is a new gaming experience that is exploding across the country. Each child has their own leather chair and full-sized monitor and the ability to choose from hundreds of gaming options on the very latest gaming hardware. Play with a group of your friends or head off on your own adventure. If you are 4 or 5 you might be riding a unicorn or exploring the world of MineCraft. A teenager? Anything you can imagine (that your parents allow). Drive a race car or space ship. Shoot zombies or be John Wick. Explore the space and the oceans. Have a pet, carnival games, and cook food, Boxing to music, Fly an airplane. Climb a snow encrusted mountain. Build a car. Fight off giant robots and insects. Shoot a bow and arrow or paint and create.
Playlive Nation is a rotating field trip on Thursdays. Small children are separated from Teenagers. One group will have a little over one hour of gaming while the other groups are moving through the exercise modules, arts & crafts and such so there is a limited amount of time a child can participate in video games except during free time when they can choose to watch a movie, do an arts and crafts project, play games or participate in a physical activity like Nerf Wars, Nerf baseball, martial arts, or dance. Between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm we have structured activities. During free time before and after this, children can choose among many activities to occupy their time. If your child is going to be spending a good amount of “free time” with us please advise if there are any limitations or activities you want them to participate in.
Most Summer Camps only go the 60 cent Summer Fun Movies. Some are ok but some are like Charlottes Web which Harkins played for multiple years. If you have ever participated in it you know that almost all camps go to these movies and literally thousands of people are coming and going from these at the same time! We are a much smaller camp then these 800 to 900 kids summer camps and we want a better experience. We have a wide range of campers and always give multiple choices of movies every week. A 4-year-old and a 14-year-old have different ideas of what is entertaining. So, on the morning of the movies (usually on Fridays) the parent will talk with their child and decide which movie choice is appropriate that day. We usually offer at least 3 choices.
Some of the highly anticipated movie options for the 2018 Summer are: The Incredibles 2, Ant Man & The Wasp, Christopher Robin, & Hotel Transylvania 3– Summer Vacation.
Older children can also watch: Avengers – Infinity War, Jurassic World – Fallen Kingdom, & Hans Solo – Star Wars.
